Choosing the Right Roll-Off Bin

Choosing the Right Roll-Off Bin

Renting roll-off bins makes it easy to contain and haul away trash, but not all dumpsters are the same. These handy containers come in a variety of sizes and shapes designed to meet nearly any need. From emptying the garage or cleaning up yard waste to holding debris from that big home improvement project, there is a dumpster that is right for you. Choosing the right size is an important part of dumpster rental.

Debris Box offers several recycling bins in various sizes. But, before you make a decision, think about the amount of trash you have, how heavy it is and how easy it is to load into a roll-off box. Other considerations may include your ability to lift objects above waist level and the amount of space you have for the roll-off box. Use these guidelines to help you decide which is right for you.

Standard Roll-Off Box

This box is referred to as a 40 and holds 39.11 cubic yards. It is 22-feet long, 8-feet wide and 6-feet high. This box is ideal for mixed loads and is large enough to hold roofing debris from a large home or a commercial roofing project. It is also suitable for cleaning out a large home or for holding yard waste that includes tree limbs. This size may also be suitable for holding debris when moving or when doing home renovation projects.

Dumpster

This bin is slightly smaller than the standard box and holds 32 cubic yards of debris. It is referred to as a 30 and measures 18-feet long, 8-feet wide and 6-feet high. Like the standard box, it can be used for mixed loads, but this one is ideal for shorter driveways. It can be utilized for a standard roofing project, to hold yard waste or to clean out an attic or a garage.

Low Boy

This bin is shorter and smaller than the others, measuring 16-feet long, 8-feet wide and 2-feet high. It holds nine cubic yards. This bin is ideal for heavy objects. Its convenient 2-foot height makes it easy to lift objects into the bin. Choose the low boy if you have a few heavy objects to get rid of, or if you are cleaning yard wastes consisting mainly of brush. It works well for short driveways and can be used for mixed loads.

Tips:

A cubic yard refers to an area that is one-yard long, one-yard wide and one-yard tall and is the equivalent of 27 cubic feet. To estimate the number of cubic feet your debris will take up, measure the length, depth and height of the pile in feet and multiply them to find the number of cubic feet. Divide the number of cubic feet by 27 to determine the number of cubic yards.
